Hyderabad: After giving its approval to the Universities to offer academic courses through online mode, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has now asked the universities to take part in a survey on the usage of digital technologies.

According to sources in the UGC regional office, a letter had been sent to the Vice-Chancellors of all the universities to participate in the first-of-its-kind all India survey to find out the extent of usage of digital technologies in the higher educational institutions (HEIs) in the country.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official said that a letter from the UGC Secretary Prof Rajnish Jain had been sent to the universities on Friday. The letter said that the Indian education should quickly shift to digital learning against the backdrop of technology-based tools gaining prominence to impart education to students and helping them to learn, communicate, collaborate and study on and off campus.

Prof Jain said, "This will take the teaching and learning process at universities and colleges to the next level." It was against this backdrop, the UGC wanted to collect details and effective use of digital technologies in universities and colleges.

For this, the UGC wanted to take up an online survey and all the universities were asked to submit relevant details. The letter further asked the university VCs to give instructions to their affiliated colleges to submit the necessary information online by participating in the online survey.

The universities and colleges will have to visit http://www.facilities.aicte-india. org/survey/digital_tecyhniques.php to submit the information. Further, if any difficulties are faced while submitting the details asked then they can contact by sending an email to egov@aicte-india.org.
