Kodandaram to share stage with Sonia Gandhi

Hyderabad: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) chief Prof Kodandaram will be sharing stage with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in the Medchal meeting being organised by the Congress on November 23. As the People's Front convener Kodandaram has been invited by the Congress to also speak in the public meeting, according to TJS leaders.
Kodandaram, however, is not happy at the way seat sharing took place among the alliance partners. In an interaction with media on Tuesday, he explained that he withdrew from Jangaon election for the cause of BCs. However, the Congress shocked us by fielding BC leader R Krishnaiah in Miryalaguda segment, which was allotted initially to us, he said, adding that they were not aware of Krishnaiah's candidature at all.
Kodandaram stated that he wanted to enter fray from Jangaon only if it did not affect chances of People's Front any which way. As there was some dissent from BC sections, that a BC leader was losing the seat, TJS decided to forego Jangaon, he added.
TJS chief expressed hope that Congress would take steps to withdraw its candidates wherever TJS filed nominations. Kodandaram said that discussions are on to avoid friendly contest wherever possible. He said talks are still in progress, so he could not comment about the outcome at this juncture.
The retired professor said that they sought one seat in Old City to accommodate a Muslim candidate. But, due to the confusion over seat sharing until the last minute, TJS was unable to fulfil this, he added. Kodandaram wanted Congress to play a big brother role in People Front and take alliance partners along avoiding any type of confusion.
