Siddipet: Sportspersons will have a special identity in the society, said District Collector Krishna Bhaskar, urging youth to take to sports in a big way. He was inaugurating a sports meet for girls of social welfare residential schools (SWRS) at Mittapalli on Wednesday. He said the sports and games, which go by rules and regulations, make children develop discipline in their lives. He heaped praises on the students of SWRS, who excelled in different areas.

Additional Secretary of SWRS Umadevi said the sports meet was the fifth in series after formation of Telangana State. Players selected in this meet would participate in state-level competitions to be held in Hyderabad. Sports officer Ramlaxman said 1,500 players and 800 officials were participating in the event. He praised the employees of SWRS for providing good facilities. Earlier, students displayed march fast.
