Conversely, Khairatabad is infamous for more poor localities than in any other constituency. Thus, it is not an exaggeration to say it requires Herculean efforts to grab the attention of both the constituents. Chintala Ramachandra Reddy (BJP), a member of the dissolved Assembly, former minister Danam Nagender (TRS), Dasoju Shravan (People’s Front). Also in the fray is Manne Govardhan Reddy (a TRS rebel now with BSP) are locked in a raging fight and are leaving no stone unturned to make it to the State Assembly.
Speaking to The Hans India, Danam says he is familiar with the problems plaguing the constituency, “which I had striven to solve in the past. Within six months of getting elected I will make efforts to regularise government sites for the poor of M S Makta, Rajnagar, Maruthinagar, Singadikunta, Filmnagar at rates less than those prescribed. I will also strive to secure 2 BHK houses. I have got clearance for a 50-bed government hospital at a cost of Rs.13 crore, which is yet to be inaugurated. If elected, I will get Rs 10-15 crore more before the inauguration. Among other problems, I will try to solve drinking water, drainage issues.”
On his part, Sravan promises to conduct a social audit on the problems facing the constituency and solve them by making people partners in governance. He told THI that non-regularisation of houses was agitating the residents no end. “Unemployment is also a serious issue facing youth. This I will try to solve by setting up skill development centres.” Chintala informed THI that as MLA he had striven to find solutions to local problems by incurring crores of expenditure. “Yet some remain to be solved, such as regularisation of several localities.
I have already represented to the CM and the ministers concerned on the problems facing colonies. If elected I will try to achieve more development’. Manne assures to solve issues of residents of areas which face submersion because of rain, besides drainage and water contamination problems in slums. “If elected, I will exert pressure on the government to launch the 50-bed government hospital and create all facilities in government schools in the constituency.”
