Mahbubnagar: Chittem Ram Mohan Reddy, TRS candidate from Makthal constituency inf Mahabubnagar district is expected to face a tough uphill task in the upcoming elections as his popularity among the masses is fast eroding in the constituency.

According to local political analysts in Makthal, Ram Mohan Reddy’s degradation had started from the day when he jumped Congress party into TRS. “Ram Mohan Reddy who had earlier won on the Congress party ticket but later joined TRS after winning the election. This clearly shows he had deceived the people’s confidence.” said a tea seller.

“Though some sections of people supported his action hoping he would do a lot of development works and uplift the fate of Makthal constituency, during the past four and half year of his tenure no developmental works were done in Makthal,” he added.

“The roads are in pathetic condition, we have no proper drains, the condition of bus stand and other internal roads in the constituency are in the same condition where they were earlier. We had lots of hopes and were expecting that he would get more funds and develop the constituency, but all our hopes were dashed as he did nothing,” complained the tea seller.

However, on the other hand, Chittem Ram Mohan is quite confident and is purely relying on popular government schemes of the TRS party to win the upcoming elections. “TRS government had launched various welfare schemes for farmers. Rythu Bheema, Rythu Bandhu and 24X7 free power supply are some of the welfare programmes for the farming sector were executed by the governmetn. In addition to this, we are giving Rs 1,000 Asara pension and it would be further enhanced to Rs 2,016 and Rythu Bandhu input subsidy will be increased from Rs 8,000 per acre to Rs 10,000 per annum.

We are confident that the TRS will win with a thumping majority and in Makthal, I am looking to win with a record margin this time again,” expressed confident Chittem Ram Mohan Reddy. While Chittem is confident of winning, the changing political dynamics in Makthal are some other factors that are negating to his claims of winning with majority.

This evident from the fact that the TRS rebel candidate Jalandhar Reddy who has filed his nomination as an Independent candidate is having better prospects to win against Ram Mohan and other TDP candidate Dayakar Rao from Makthal constituency. “Jalandhar Reddy, who has been with TRS took part in Telangana movement was given a raw deal by the TRS party. With KCR inducted Chittem into TRS fold soon after coming to power in 2014, this has not gone well with the TRS cadre in Makthal.

This time, with Congress not fielding its candidate and supporting Dayakar Reddy, TDP contestant is also not accepted by the public. Had Congress fielded its candidate; it would have given a tough fight to Chittem. Now that there is no Congress candidate, all the Congress workers who were earlier backing Chittem are expected to support Jalandhar Reddy,” observed political analysts from Makthal.

However, a few others say that all said and done, money will play a major role in these elections. “We can’t say until last moment who will win Makthal. Money plays a big role in elections in Makthal. Whoever spends maximum will win the elections ultimately,” observed a farmer from Makthal market.
