Siddipet: Officials in the district are preparing ground for panchayat elections. ‘Grama Sabhas’ are being organised in the district from time to time. The District Panchayat Officer is also holding a series of meetings with MPDOs.

The district covers Siddipet, Gajwel, Dubbak, Husnabad constituencies, along with Cheryal, Komuravelli, Maddur, Bejjanki mandals in Manakondur constituencies in Janagama district. There are 499 panchayats in 22 mandals. And overall, wards number 4,476.

As per the directive of Supreme Court, the State government is making arrangements of the polls in January. Total number of BC voters in the district is 3,36,894 of which 1,68,375 are males and 1,68,519 females. A returning officer per each panchayat will be appointed. As many as 5,800 ballot boxes are also ready for the polls. The estimated requirement of the election staff is 18, 000. Election will be held in two or three phases in order to overcome the scarcity of manpower, said officials.
