Hyderabad: The annual Gongadi (Telangana’s woollen craft) exhibition, comprising hand woven crafts by weavers from Medak, Sangareddy and Siddipet districts will be held here on January 5 and 6 (Saturday, Sunday) at Daram – the Handloom Store, Begumpet, from 11 am to 8 pm.

The exhibition is being held jointly by the Deccan Gorrela Mekala Pempakadarla Sangham (DGMPS), and the Food Sovereignty Alliance India. This revival is the effort of conserving the rare Deccani Sheep breed central to the lives and livelihood of communities. This exhibition organised by dāram, and Deccani Gorrela Mekala Pempakadarla Sangham, brings to you traditional and new designs of varying sizes. The spinners, weavers and artisans will share the story of the Gongadi. All proceeds of the Gongadi sales go directly to weavers, spinners, kada-makers and shepherd members of the DGMPS.
