Warangal: Around 40 women belonging to Sudan, Sri Lanka, Canada and Bangladesh made this Sunday memorable for them by joining the Sankranti celebrations organised by Balavikasa, a non-profit organisation devoted to bring in sustainable development in the country, here on Sunday.

It was a festive atmosphere at the Bala Vikasa training centre where these foreign origin women have been pursuing a certificate course - Community Driven Development. They participated in the rangoli and danced, besides savouring the traditional snacks of the Sankranti - Chakinalu and ariselu.

They enjoyed dancing to the local beats of traditional oxen ‘basavanna’. Referring to the conduct of the festivity, Bala Vikasa founder Bala Theresa Gingras said that it’s an effort to promote and educate the students the importance local culture and traditions.
