Nalgonda/Yadadri-Bhongir: Violation of orders of State Chief Secretary SK Joshi at Panthangi and Korlapahad toll plazas located on Hyderabad- Vijayawada highway created tension and led to heated arguments between vehicle drivers and staff of toll plazas on Sunday morning.
As per the orders of Telangana government, toll fee will not be collected on January 13 (Sunday) and again on January 16, the two days when rush on the roads is expected to be highest with people leaving the State capital for their villages to celebrate Sankranti festival.
While the travelers maintained that the State government had waived toll fee on Sunday, the toll gate staff fixed to their stand stating that they did not receive any orders from their higher officials to implement. This led to arguments and traffic jam to a few kilometers.
After 10.30 am Choutuppal police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitated travelers. The police informed their superiors and after a while, the toll gate staff began allowing vehicles to pass through without having to pay the toll tax.
