Khairatabad: People belonging to the Scheduled Caste communities can achieve any success if they remain united, observed National SC Commission Member KRamulu here on Friday.Speaking after releasing the calendar of the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) brought out by the SC, ST Employees’ Welfare Association, he stated that the commission had taken steps to ensure payment of Rs 20 lakh as compensation if a sanitation employee died after suffering a fall in a manhole.

Ramulu assured the association members that the commission would see to it that no injustice was done to SCs in promotions.‘The commission would take steps to ensure that an employee does the same duty as enunciated at the time of joining service’. He pointed out that SCs and STs in all government departments were facing discrimination. Hence, there was a need for unity among them, the SC panel chief stressed.

HMWS&SB Director M Satyanarayana stated that due to the efforts of workers, the organisation was able to provide services to 1.2 core residents in the twin cities. “It is because of the efforts of these workers that the board has secured many awards,” he saidand promised to take the problems of SCs and STs to the government notice if the board was informed.

Among those present at the function were HMWS&SB Project I Director M Yellaswamy, Operation I Director Ajmira Krishna, association president B Bhumayya, general secretary B R Srinivas, working presidentsC Raju and B Jnaneshwar, chief vice-president M Raja, treasurer P Krishna and others.
