Tandur: Security has been beefed up in view of the Gram Panchayat elections scheduled here on Monday. Polling will be held on Monday in 127 panchayats in Tandur, Yalal, Basheerabad and Peddemul mandals. Almost 400 police personnel were deployed for smooth conduct of polls.

The sensitive and most sensitive areas have been already identified and special focus is on these polling centres. Including three DSPs, six Inspectors and 16 sub-inspectors are supervising the security arrangements.Section 144 is imposed at polling stations and criminal cases will be filed against the miscreants who resort to illegal activities. Even voters in inebriated conditions are not allowed to exercise their franchise.

Mobile phones, ink, cameras are also prohibited inside the polling stations. Police directed the candidates not to campaign near polling stations. The rallies after announcement of results is also banned.

Election material has been transported to the polling stations on Sunday amid tight security. As many as 600 persons are discharging election duty in this phase. They collected the election material and reached to the polling stations.

RTC made special arrangements for transporting election material and staff to the polling stations. As many as 101 buses were made available for this purpose. Buses from Tandur, Vikarabad, Parigi depots were allotted for the transportation.
