Vikarabad: The second phase of panchayat polls saw similar scenes as were witnessed during the first phase. Keeping the results and patterns in view, contestants have increased their efforts to woo the people with the second phase approaching fast. As many as 87 candidates are in the fray for 28 gram panchayats.

Four panchayats have already been unanimously elected their sarpanches. The second phase elections are scheduled to be held on Jan 25.Competition among the candidates is fierce with offerings money, liquor, and household accessories. They don’t even hesitate to sell their properties to win the election. Those who lost the opportunity to contest are fielding their supporters and campaigning for them.

Some of them are feeling that losing in the elections would impact their political career. Local Legislators are also campaigning for the candidates and helping them to emerge victorious. Ironically, no one is talking about the development of the village and implementing of government schemes but offering money, liquor and various accessories.
