Vemulawada: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths arrested Panchayat Raj department Deputy Executive Engineer (DEE) while taking bribe at Vemulawada on Thursday.
According to ACB DSP Kiran Kumar, Katta Lachaiah, husband of former sarpanch of Thadgonda village, Boinpalli mandal, Rajanna Sircilla district, approached the DEE, asking him to pass bills for an amount of Rs 13 lakh, sanctioned for the construction of gram panchayat building. The DEE allegedly demanded Rs 70,000 to pass the bill. Lachaiah complained the matter to the ACB.
As per the suggestions of ACB officials, Lachaiah gave the amount to Mahender Reddy at Vemulawada PR office and ACB DSP Kiran Kumar and Circle Inspector Sanjeev caught the Dy EE red-handed while he was taking the bribe amount.
