Rajendra Nagar: The GHMC Vigilance and Enforcement department on Wednesday conducted raids on plastic industries that are manufacturing plastic covers with a thickness below 50 microns. The state government has banned the use of plastic covers with thickness below 50 microns under the norms of solid waste management.

However, many plastic industries are still manufacturing the banned covers against the norms. Vigilance department conducted raids on plastic industries located in Rajendra Nagar and Katedan Industrial Area on Wednesday and seized bundles of plastic covers. Notices were issued to Balaji Plastic Industry, Sirigiri Plastic Private Ltd and Mahachandi Polymers, which were manufacturing covers below 50 micron thickness.
