Vasavi Nagar: The foundation stone for underground drainage (UGD) at Vasavi Nagar was laid by J Rama Krishna, vice president, Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) here on Sunday. The work for underground sewage pipeline in this area would begin soon. The work is designed to expand the drainage capacity informed officials. Several locals had complained about the lack of a proper drainage system.

Especially during monsoon, sewage water overflowed into the lanes flooding the whole area. The Cantonment Board has planned to provide a well-developed drainage system in this colony, said Rama Krishna, SCB member, ward no 5. He also said that the budget for this project was estimated at around Rs 28 lakh.

The work in ward no 5 includes laying of sewage pipelines and providing connection to each of the households. The Board also plans to construct sufficient manholes to control the sewage overflow. The Secunderabad Cantonment Board proposes to complete this project by the first week of March.
