Karimnagar: With just one look at them, anyone can understand clearly that they are disabled. But not the Karimnagar district officials, who entered the names of the disabled in the voter’s list prepared before the Assembly elections held in last December. But the very names are missing in the list of disability pension.

The district officials have entered about 38,247 disabled persons in the voters list. But only 20,702 disabled in the district are getting pension and about 17,000 disabled listed in the electoral roll are not receiving pension.

The victims alleged that others with the help of fake certificates are getting the disability pensions. At present, Rs 1,500 pension is being given to the disables and the State government is going to increase the amount to Rs 3,016 soon.

Pingili Ranga Reddy, resident of Ippalapalli village, Veenavanka mandal, has been getting the pension till 2014. Ranga Reddy lost his fingers and right hand was totally paralysed while working in a factory 12 years ago. the Medical Board had issued 90% disability certificate on September 23, 2010 and from that day onwards he has been getting disability pension.

But after the Telangana State was formed in 2014, his pension was stopped. He approached Veenavanka MPDO but of no use. The victim met Lok Satta district president Naredla Srinivas, Prakash Holla, Gangadhar, Manohar, Rythu Sangham leader Venkat Reddy and requested them to help in getting the pension.

Due to the efforts of Lok Satta leaders, Huzurabad RDO ordered Veenavanka Tahsildar and MPDO to sanction pension to disabled persons. But the official neglected the orders. Again, Lok Satta leaders called on the District Collector for several times, but their efforts went futile.

Not only Ranga Reddy, but there are many others, who lost their pension for the past four years, and leading miserable lives. They are requesting the government to solve their problem and take steps to sanction pension to them.
