Uppal: Protesting against meager allocation of funds to education sector in the vote on account budget introduced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the State assembly, All India Students Federation (AISF) leaders burnt effigy of the State government at Ambedkar statue in Boduppal on Sunday.

AISF vice president Putta Lakshman alleged that there was no mention of funds to fellowships and mess charges in the budget. Only Rs 12,220.75 crore was allotted to the education sector from the proposed Rs 1,82,017 lakh crore budget, he admitted.

Lakshman alleged that there was no allocation of funds for the development of universities. He demanded 30 per cent of budget to the education sector. He warned of intensify the agitation if their demand was not met. Student leaders Md Anwar, Krishna, Naresh, Chinna Babu, Ajay, Badri, Shivananda, Harish and Sandip were present.
