Hyderabad: Over 40 senior & junior accountants from Treasury & Accounts Department successfully completed the 166th Induction Training Program (ITP), conducted by Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana, Jubilee Hills. The duration of the ITP was 75 days.

BP Acharya, Ex Officio Special Chief Secretary & DG, Dr MCRHRDI, who was the chief guest at the valedictory function, said that even though senior & junior accountants were at the entry level of the department’s hierarchy, through their optimum best contribution, they can contribute to the cause of good governance and added that the ultimate success of the department depends mainly on the quality of their work.

“The formation of Telangana State and subsequent reorganization of the State into 33 districts have resulted in expectation explosion on the part of people. The accountants, with their inherent advantage of having a live interface with people at the grass roots level, should fulfil these expectations and thereby become a part and parcel of citizen-centric governance”, stated Acharya.

He advised the accountants to develop empathy, understand problems of people, and discharge their duties with a human touch. “The rules and regulations relating to their jobs are important in their own right. However, the need of the hour is not only to become efficient accountants but also to emerge as good human beings who are not only useful to their department but also helpful to the society at large”, added Acharya.

KSRC Murthy, Director, Treasury & Accounts Department, who was the Guest of Honor, said that the Information Technology has been influencing the accounting function in a big way. “The accounting software has been changing at a mindboggling pace and, therefore, the accountants should keep learning the application of Information Technology to their jobs in order to keep their skill sets current and up-to-date and thereby contribute to achieving the cherished goals of their department,” he added.

Acharya and Murthy gave away prizes, awards, and certificates to the trainees.

B Venkateswara Rao, Addl. DG and SM Nabi, Director (Training) also attended the valedictory function.

Earlier, TM Basha, course coordinator welcomed the gathering. Yasmeen Sultana, Joint Director, Accounts Training Wing of the Centre for Financial Management of the Institute proposed a vote of thanks.
