Musheerabad: National BC Welfare Association President R Krishnaiah on Monday held discussions with BC Welfare Principal Secretary Burra Venkatesham about the delay of nine months in the payment of mess charges and about the fee reimbursement and scholarship dues that have been pending since two years.

The BC leader impressed upon the secretary of the immediate need to release the pending amounts, as the financial year will end in March. Later, he told press persons that the discussions were also held on the demands of the association.

Krishnaiah informed Venkatesham that the mess bills, rents and other charges of inmates staying in 1,200 SC and 750 BC hostels have not been released for the last nine months. He pointed out that because of the budget released in July/August, the bills were not passed. The wardens of the hostels are running the hostels with borrowed amounts, he said. The mounting debts running into lakhs have made it difficult to run the hostels. He warned that the hostels would soon be closed if the budget amounts were not released.
