Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists on Wednesday organised a round-table conference at Somajiguda Press Club to discuss the role being played by media in the wake of protests and developments in the State after the announcement of State bifurcation by the Congress Working Committee.
Editors of various newspaper organisations and vernacular electronic channels took part in the round-table meeting. Speaking on the occasion, speakers representing media channels observed that few media organisations were resorting to biased reporting, indirectly supporting the interests of a specific region. Stressing the need for self-regulation for media, speakers opined that scribes should not develop differences on the lines of region, caste or religion.
Chief State news co-ordinator of HMTV, Virahat Ali called upon the scribes to strive to report in an unbiased manner. Senior journalists Allam Narayana, IJU Secretary General Devulapalli Amar and others also spoke on the occsion.
