You must have heard of travellers moving around the world. You must have heard of people taking world tours visiting more than five countries and countless cities in one go. Here’s a family that has taken travelling to an entire new level, an idea that simply would not occur to a normal person.

Well, at least a person with a family of two little children. As adventurous as this may sound, Anand Baid, a resident of Bengaluru, has planned his travel from his hometown to Paris by road. Yes, you read it right, this family has hit the road to cross 12 countries with Paris being their destination to celebrate their anniversary on July 10.
Team Little Indian Family of Explorers (LIFE) consists of this family of four based in Whitefield. Anand Baid, 38, an animator/educator at a start-up, Native Puppets, who was previously associated with Dreamworks Inc., with Punita Baid, 36, and their kids Yash, 12, and Dhriti, 8, started their journey with a flag off from Bengaluru on April 8 and had reached Hyderabad on the same day for a pit stop.
The family was welcomed to the city by Hyderabad Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre, one of their sponsors. The Baids have planned their trip through Nepal, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and finally France. “This was a plan I discussed with Punita over a dinner at home. At that time this was supposed to be something that we would do in 2020.
Little did I know that this would be happening just eight months later? With over 2,500 mails exchanged pertaining to this trip and a whole lot of research this is now happening,” said Anand. Punita has always been supportive of all of Anand’s plans that sounded practical to her. “When this plan was pitched I just said yes because I didn’t want the post-denial nagging, as Anand is a go getter. He will try and try till he succeeds. Slowly I started to notice this taking shape and at one point it was too late to back out,” said Punitha The family is using a two-year-old Fiat Linea T- Jet and has a 15,000 km map for their journey.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India came on board as one of the main partners on their journey. Sponsors, generous family and friends have pitched in to sponsor various aspects of the journey. You can track their journey on facebook.com/overlandstories. Anand plans on coming out with a documentary called ‘101 Days Into The Unknown’ after the trip wraps up in Paris.
