Vizianagaram: The agitation for Samaikyandhra reached goes on unabated even after 22 days of its start. The agitators began their protest programmes right from early morning on Wednesday. The whole of Vizianagaram district boiled with agitations and protests. The APNGOs blocked all routes to the city. With this to and fro traffic from Vizianagaram to other centres was stopped. The agitators stopped the vehicles for eight hours. They organised Vanta Varpu on the railway over-bridge and had their meals together. Even activists of Congress party organised Vanta Varpu and rasta roko programmes. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) women activists formed a human chain.
Vanta Varpu and blocking of national highway was organised all over the Agency area. At Kurupam all parties participated in Vanta Varpu programme. The national highway was blocked at Pedamerangi junction. Protest programmes were held at Parvathipuram, Bobbili, Saluru, Ramabhadrapuram, Cheepurupalli, Garividi, S Kota and Kothavalasa. Advocates organised mock court on the road under auspices of Gajapatinagaram Bar Association. Transport came to a complete halt all over the district. Vehicles came to a standstill causing traffic jam. Even though it is 22 days since the start of agitation, it is only intensifying by the day.
Siti Cable’s Samaikyandhra Samarabheri on August 30
The local Siti Cable has pledged to intensify the Samaikyandhra stir. They will launch Samaikyandhra Samarabheri programme on August 30 to heighten the agitation. Citi Cable managing director M Srinivas Rao urged everyone to participate in the programme irrespective of party affiliations.
All those who are taking part in the agitation daily at present should join the Samarabheri programme, he added.
A huge rally will be taken out as part of the programme, the Siti Cable managing director said. The rally will begin at the Vizianagaram Fort and reach the local RTC Complex touching all the main centres. Mr Srinivas Rao urged all the people to participate in the programme and raise slogans so that the Centre should pay attention to the issue.
