Kruparani opens all-women post office in Vizag Visakhapatnam: "The Central government is proposing to modernise all 1.55 lakh post offices in the country with a single network soon with a project cost of Rs 4,700 crore," said Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Killi Kruparani. After inaugurating the first 'all-women post office' in Andhra Pradesh and the fourth in the country at the MVP Colony here on Saturday, the Union Minister said two similar women post offices were already opened in New Delhi on the International Women's Day and the third one in Mumbai. Efforts were on to open four more such 'all-women post offices' in Hyderabad, she said. "To improve and upgrade the delivery status, four Automatic Mail Processing Centres would be set up in the country at a cost of Rs 70 crore," she added.

The Union Minister said an Automatic Mail Processing Centre would be set up in Hyderabad for which a site was already acquired and the Chief Minister would lay the foundation stone in July. She further said over 1,000 ATMs would also be opened in the postal sector. The post offices have excelled in payment of wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to the migrated, Kruparani said. Later, the Union Minister launched 'My Stamp' through which individuals or corporates could have personalised stamps with their photos, logos, heritage buildings, tourist spots, historical cities, wildlife, and birds or with various themes. It could be used for mail transmission also.
