Hanamkonda: National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT-W) has signed three key memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with BHEL, ELOIRA and Nucleonix Systems Private Limited on Wednesday
The MoUs were signed by NIT-W in-charge Director Prof GRC Reddy with officials of the respective companies. The three agreements would be in force for a period of five years from the date of signing and could be extendable for five more years.
With BHEL As part of the MoU signed at the institute here on Wednesday, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and the NIT-W agreed to cooperate, collaborate and pursue industrial/application oriented research programmes promoting education, industrial research through the BHEL funded research programmes and fellowships.
Joint research and development (R&D) relevant to energy, transportation, transmission and other areas would be taken up with involvement of both academia and industry to provide a model for industry-academia partnership,NIT-W would collaborate to identify key R&D areas for immediate and future requirements, enhancement of capabilities of staff and quality of research work at BHEL R&D centres.
The BHEL would provide practical research topics and facilities to NITW’s students/ researchers to take up studies/research projects in the areas of BHEL’s interest.
With ELOIRA This MoU between Electro Optical Instruments Research Academy (ELOIRA) of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the NIT-W aims to carry out research and development studies in areas of sensors technologies and all disciplines mutually agreed upon to work at international bench-mark standards.
The MoU enables research collaboration between ELOIRA and NITW involving faculty and employees (engineers, post graduates and research fellows). Jointly conducting need-based short-term courses, seminars, conferences, workshops and symposiums and providing opportunities for ELOIRA employees to pursue Ph D at NIT-W.
With Nucleonix Systems Nucleonix Systems Private Limited based in Hyderabad working in Nuclear Instrumentation would offer software development projects for MCA students of CSE Department of NITW to carry out at its premises in Hyderabad.
Industrial visits, identifying new projects jointly and to apply to the funding agencies to take up instrumentation development programme with the combined resources was also part of the MoU.
NITW faculty could involve in reviewing the progress of the projects as per their normal practice.BHEL general manager (Corp. R&D) KK Khurana, the ELOIRA dean G Krishna Rao, Nucleonix Systems Private Limited Managing Director J Narender Reddy, NIT-W professors SVS Reddy and CSRK Prasad were present.
