Nizamabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Friday launched development works at a cost Rs 2.52 crore in Thagilepalli village of Varni mandal and participated in the village farmers’ coordination committee meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Reddy stated that only farmers owning land and involved in cultivation should be made members of the coordination committees, giving representation to various communities, castes and groups. One of them would be the coordinator. Women would be given one-third representation (five). At the district-level, each committee will have 24 members.

The Minister stated that the village and mandal-level committees should be constituted by September 9 and the mandal-level conventions will be organised from September 10 to 14. From September 15 to December 15, the land records will be reviewed. For this purposed, Reddy said, a team for every nine villages will be set up.

As many as 1,193 teams are being constituted to cover 10,733 revenue villages. The teams’ members will survey the lands in every village for ten days. The teams would include MRO and RDO besides the agriculture department officials and members of the village coordination committees.

Reddy asserted that there are no problems in over 90 per cent of the land records. The records don’t show details of the land conversion (from agriculture to other needs) and purchases made during several decades. Such details would now be incorporated in the records during the survey to be taken up by committees and will be computerised.

The passbooks in the shape of passports would be handed over to farmers. The future records would be registered in the tahsildar offices. Based on the details listed in records, each farmer would be given Rs 4,000 per acre as advance investment.

The Minister, Srinivas Reddy, announced that the Godavari water will be supplied to Nizamsagar ayacut under the Kaleswaram project by next June. He disclosed the names of the Thagilepalli village farmers’ coordination committee members nominated by residents.
