More than 2 lakh Bathukamma sarees for Sircilla district

Speaking at a press meet at the Collectorate here on Friday, the DRDO said about 1.13 lakh sarees were supplied to the district till date and another 90,000 sarees will be supplied soon, to be distributed to the women in the district on the occasion of Bathukamma festival.
The sarees were stored at Sarampalli Textile Park godown and from Saturday onwards, they will be distributed to all villages in the district. About 290 distribution points were identified in the existing 211 village panchayats in the district for distribution. All necessary steps were taken for sarees distribution from September 18 to 20 to about 2.6 lakh women. The women must bring either Aadhaar card or voter ID card or bank passbook or pan card for identity proof.
Joint-Collector Yasmine Basha along with District Welfare officer Saraswathi and Padma inspected the Bathukamma sarees stored at Sarampalli Textile Park godown. The J-C praised the weavers for the beautiful designs of the sarees. Additional Director of Handloom and Textile Industries V Ashok Rao, Swachh Bharat Mission Consultant R Suresh and Assistant Project Manager Pasham were present along with others.
