Hanamkonda: The officers of Kakatiya University campus police station have conducted anti-ragging campaign at the university on Thursday.

Posters explaining the legal consequences of ragging were displayed at different departments and hostels at the university. Police sub-inspectors Bheemesh and K Srinivas have interacted with the students and appealed them to make KU free from ragging.

They explained the students that the practice of ragging the juniors by seniors was illegal and asked them to not to resort to ragging. Forcing a student to do an act or perform something, which has the effect of causing shame or embarrassment would adversely affect psyche of a junior student.

The police officers also explained the students about the legislations that prohibit ragging at colleges and universities. Any student found guilty of ragging would be suspended from attending classes, his admission might be cancelled and scholarship and other benefits would be withheld.

Those accused of ragging would have to face imprisonment and pay penalty. If any junior student subjected to harassment by seniors in the name of ragging he or she should complain to the police on WhatsApp No: 9491089257, they added.
