Hanamkonda: The Kakatiya University SDLCE Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar has appealed the staff to make dedicated efforts towards the revival of past of glory of the distance education wing. He addressed the non-teaching employees of the School of Distance Education and Continuing Learning (SDLCE) at a meeting at the seminar hall at the school on Thursday, marking the recent beginning of distance wing academic year.

Prof Dinesh Kumar asked the employees to maintain office timings strictly to deliver the services to the students in an effective manner. He informed that efforts were being made to seek approval from the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) for the proposals submitted for 23 new courses.

Similarly, the DEB was requested to give its assent to reintroduce the courses offered in the past by the SDLCE and withdrawn following the DEB directions. The issue was also taken to the noticed of Union Human Resources Minister Prakash Javadekar, the Director said. The SDLCE Daily Wage Employees Association president Shaganti Srinivas has urged the Director to initiate measures to address the employees’ problems.

He wanted lump sum (fixed wage) employees, who were working since 12 years at the school, should be recognised as daily wage employees. Similarly, daily wage class IV employees should be promoted to non-gazetted officer cadre based on their qualification. Senior daily wage employees have to be recognised as time-scale employees and the services of time-scale employees have to regularized, Srinivas said. Responding to the appeal of the association leader, the Director promised to address their problems at the earliest. The KU Additional Controller of Examinations Prof V Ramchandram, SDLCE Joint Director K Padmalatha, Assistant Director V Jagan and staff were present.
