Bodhan: Maharashtra State government lifted the gates of Babli project on Thursday to release 0.6 tmc water to Sriram Sagar under the supervision of Central Water Commission engineers.

When Andhra Pradesh State government had moved Supreme Court on illegal Babli project construction across River Godavari, the apex court, in its final verdict, ruled that the gates should be lifted on July 1 and to be closed only on October 29 annually.

Further, it ruled that 0.6 tmc water should be released from the project on March 1 annually. It will take at least 18 hours for the water to reach Sriram Sagar from Babli project, which is 72 km away.
