Achutamanasa Ravi Chandra, Kuchipudi artist, from Andhra Pradesh has been invited by the UNESCO CID (International Dance Council-The United Nations of Dance) to attend the 51st World Congress on Dance Research to be held between July 4 and 8.  She will be performing on July 6 at The National Dora Stratou Theatre, Athens, Greece. 

Achutamanasa Ravi Chandra, Kuchipudi artist, from Andhra Pradesh has been invited by the UNESCO CID (International Dance Council-The United Nations of Dance) to attend the 51st World Congress on Dance Research to be held between July 4 and 8. She will be performing on July 6 at The National Dora Stratou Theatre, Athens, Greece.

She says, “I am glad that I will be performing in the premises of most ancient theatre. I will also be conducting a workshop on July 7. Apart from this, there is going to be an exhibition where our Kuchipudi images and DVDs on Kuchipudi Nrityabhinaya Vedam - Moksha Margam will be exhibited from July 5 to 7 at various venues in Athens, Greece .”

Evidently, this is the best opportunity to showcase the Kuchipudi tradition to 400 dance teachers, choreographers, researchers, journalists, organisers and suppliers from the 5 continents. “The World Congress is a scientific conference, a trade fair and a participatory event, facilitating networking with colleagues and informal discussions.

Organised by the National Dora Stratou Dance Theater and the Athens and Pireaus Sections of CID, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the National UNESCO Commission, the Region of Athens and the City of Athens. I am delighted to be the first and only Telugu from India to attend, exhibit, conduct workshop and perform Kuchipudi natyam,” shares Achutamanasa.
