Bengaluru (IANS): Bengaluru-born racer Akhil Rabindra, the only Asian to seal an Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy spot earlier this year, will be racing in 24h Portimao 2019, Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal July 5-7, which is going to be the fourth race of the 24H Series-European Championship.

Akhil along with his teammates Rodrigue Gillion (Germany), Mike-David Ortmann (Germany) and Nico Verdonck (Belgium) will be driving the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 car this weekend.

"I'm really excited to race in Portimao this weekend. It's the first time I will be racing here and also looking for a good outcome on Sunday," said Akhil Rabindra.

Earlier in the 24H Series -European Championship, the ProSport Performance team have had three consecutive podium finishes at the Mugello Circuit, Italy (2nd), 12th Spa Circuit Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (1st) and 12H BRNO European Championship (3rd) respectively.

The race will have a total participation of 28 teams with representation from 114 drivers at the 24H Series-European Championship in the forthcoming race.
