Your residential address changed? Facing problem in changing your address on your Aadhaar card? Now no need to worry, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) is providing two ways to change the address on your Aadhaar card. You can do it online or offline by visiting any nearby Aadhaar Centre.

You have the option of 44 documents that you can submit for changing your address on the Aadhaar card.

While changing your address on Aadhaar card, make sure that the supporting documents are:

1) One of the 44 valid documents listed on the UIDAI site.

2) Your name on those documents should be matching with that on Aadhaar.

The acceptable supporting documents for address verification include bank passbook, bank statement, passport, post office passbook, electricity bill (a recent one, at least not older than 3 months), marriage certificate, voter ID, water bill (a recent one, at least not older than 3 months), gas connection bill (a recent one, at least not more than 3 months), vehicle registration certificate, and school leaving certificate among others.

Change Your Aadhaar Card Address Online

To change or update your address online, your mobile number needs to be registered with UIDAI. Only then you will be able to take this process forward online. As online transactions are OTP authenticated, the mobile number is mandatory for an online update to receive OTP.

Change Your Aadhaar Card Address Offline

You can also change or update the address on your Aadhar card by visiting your nearest Aadhaar centre. You need to carry valid and original documents to these centres to update. Your original documents will be scanned and returned to you.

Also, UIDAI provides another facility to update address online of family members. This is done with the help of an address validation letter. On UIDAI website, once you request for generation of Aadhaar validation letter, the address verifier will get an SMS with a link to give consent for the update. When you click on the link, it will lead to the generation of an OTP for giving consent. Once the approval of the Aadhaar verifier is received, an address validation letter with secret pin is sent to her or his address by post in the next 30 days.
