The Employee Provident Fund Organization or EPFO, the retirement fund agency, allows subscribers to withdraw money from the corpus of their Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) for certain reasons. EPF is a mandatory contribution to the salary of an individual that every organization with more than 20 employees must deduct. Subscribers can submit a withdrawal claim online through the EPFO-ifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in website. The claim is sent to the employer for approval. Once it is approved, the amount is credited to the subscriber's account within a time period of 10 days.

To request the withdrawal of EPF online, the subscriber must have a UAN (Universal Account Number) active and the mobile phone number used to activate the UAN number must be in working order. The UAN must be verified by KYC (Know your customer) by providing information such as Aadhaar, PAN (Permanent account number) and bank details, as per the EPFO website.

Please follow these steps to initiate an EPF claim online through the EPFO's website:

Step 1: Login to the EPFO portal - unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in using UAN and password

Step 2: select 'Claim' from the drop-down list under 'online services'

Step 3: Click on 'Verify' once the member details are displayed

Step 4: The claim form is displayed. Enter the last 4 digits of the bank account. Now, click on 'Proceed For Online Claim' option

Step 5: You will see a new tab where the subscriber is required to fill the EPF claim details like purpose and amount of advance required. The subscriber must choose the type of withdrawal claim they wish to file- full withdrawal, partial withdrawal or pension withdrawal

Step 6: Now, click on 'Get Aadhaar OTP'. OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to the registered mobile number with the Aadhaar card. Enter the OTP. The claim is thus submitted. Subscribers have also got an option of checking the 'claim status' by selecting the option under 'online services.'
