127 new cases take Coronavirus count past 3000 in Telangana on Wednesday

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 129 new cases even as seven patients died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi. While the overall Covid count went past 3000 mark the total deaths is on the verge of one century mark. Meanwhile, health department has given plasma therapy to five patients so far after getting ICMR nod. Coming to fresh cases, GHMC accounted 108 of them while six cases each were confirmed in Ranga Reddy and Asifabad districts.
Also two migrants tested positive on Wednesday. Also, more than 20 frontline healthcare workers from OMC and NIMS also tested positive thus increasing single day cases tally
Elaborating details on Plasma Therapy the state health department said stated that current treatment for COVID -19 has been limited to general supportive care, with provision of critical care with ventilator support as no approved specific therapy or vaccines are available as on date.
In the wake of this pandemic, plasma transfusion has been the subject of increasing attention. As a part of ICMR clinical trials, 5 patients from Telangana were given plasma transfusion at Gandhi Hospital. All mandatory protocols set by ICMR were duly followed during the therapy. The therapy was introduced to the patients when their oxygen saturation levels dropped below 84% - 90%. Two transfusions were given to each of the five patients.
After the completion of therapy, all the 5 patients reported clinical improvement. one patient has already been discharged, 3 are no longer oxygen dependent and one is under intermittent dependency. Five recovered Covid patients came forward as donors and donated plasma, authorities said.
Meanwhile, heatlh department has given nod to recruit 662 staff members including professors, associate professors, assistant professors, , staff nurses, technicians, paramedical staff and fourth class employees for posting in TIMS, Gachibowli for a period of one year. These recruitments are mostly contract and outsourcing based for a period of one year.
