313 crore budget for Kakatiya University

Warangal: The Academic Senate of Kakatiya University (KU) on Friday approved Rs 313.40 crore budget for 2019-20 financial year.

Prof Ch Rajesham presented the budget at the 34th Academic Senate meeting which was chaired by KU Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna. After a debate, the members unanimously approved the budget.According to estimate, the varsity would get revenue of Rs 280.77 crore while its expenditure is pegged at Rs 313.40 crore. With an opening balance of Rs 42.53 crore there would be a deficit of Rs 1.28 crore.

While the varsity needs Rs 146.60 crore towards teaching and non-teaching staff salaries, an amount of Rs 87.11 crore would be sanctioned by the State government as grant-in aid.

An amount of Rs 1.83 crore has been earmarked for NSS activities, Rs 15 lakh internet facility, Rs 58.17 crore for the examination branch, Rs 13.70 lakh for the university library, Rs 8.08 lakh for health centre, Rs 7.50 lakh for welfare and recreation activities, Rs 18 lakh for students services, Rs 3 lakh for library automation, Rs 10 lakh for plantation, beautification, maintenance of lawns on varsity campus and Rs 20 lakh for the construction of roads.

Speaking about development and achievements, Prof Sayanna said that varsity has made huge strides with the cooperation of staff. KU Registrar Prof K Purushotham, former vice-chancellors Prof Vidyavathi and S Lingamurthy, and Sahitya Akademi Award-winner Ampasayya Naveen were among others present.
