Adilabad: MP Soyam Bapu Rao alleged that Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has become a source of income for the ruling party leaders. The vacant doctor posts in the hospital haven't filled because of political pressure and patients are suffering due to non-availability of doctors in the hospital, he added.

BJP district unit staged maha dharna before the RIMS hospital in here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Bapu Rao alleged that doctors have joined hands with the political leaders and playing with patients' lives. Though the government had established RIMS in 2008, full range of services are not yet provided to the poor patients, who visit the hospital, he pointed out.

Party district president Payala Shekar said that four to five doctors with selfish motives joined hands with political leaders and obstructing the appointments of doctors. As a result, many tribal and poor people in the joint district are allegedly dying due lack of proper medical services during emergencies, he said.

All the doctors, professors, PG directors, senior doctors have been appointed in Nizamabad Medical College, which was established after RIMS Hospital and in Aarogyasri ward, many manipulations took place and still continuing, he added.

Stating that patients were forced to bring equipment from outside that were used for surgeries, P Shekar demanded the government to fill the vacant doctors posts within 15 days.

BJP district leaders Nampalli Venugopla, Akula Praveen, Lala Munna, Somu Ravi, Rajesh, Srinivas, L Praveen Reddy, Jyoti, Nagamani and others participated in the dharna.
