Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Policy Cell criticised the State government for taking hasty decisions only when some or the other kind of disasters hit the State capital.

Addressing media here on Friday, BJP State Policy Cell Convenor G R Karunakar said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao heads the State Planning Board (SPB). But it remained non-functional. The government wakes up only when rains hit Hyderabad and remember the sorry State of the road network in the twin cities.

The policy cell objected to a proposal approved by the GHMC Standing Committee to collect toll tax for the development of road network in twin cities.

Karunakar said such policy is being followed in the construction of the national highways but not in the development of roads within the city.

He said citizens of Hyderabad are paying development and property taxes and the maintenance expenditure is part of the property tax.

He said the inner circle ring road, intermediate ring roads should have been constructed before the construction of the outer ring road or along with it.

There is no progress on the intermediate ring road for the last 10 years.
