On receiving news that the former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya was appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh, BJP party workers gathered at his residence here on Sunday and celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets.
Ramnagar: On receiving news that the former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya was appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh, BJP party workers gathered at his residence here on Sunday and celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets. President of India Ramnath Govind called him up around 11 am and congratulated him. Later, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, state BJP president Dr K Lakshman congratulated him over phone.
Speaking on the occasion, Bandaru Dattatreya said that PM Narendra Modi spoke to him on Saturday evening and informed him about the appointment. Thanking PM for the responsibility, he said he would first study the needs of people of Himachal and strive for their growth. Several BJP leaders and party workers met him on the occasion and handed him bouquets and shawls.
