Warangal: Osmania University College of Engineering Principal Prof M Kumar said that the changing lifestyle and revolutionised technology are major reasons for urbanisation.
Delivering an expert lecture on 'Challenges in Transportation Engineering' organised by the Department of Civil Engineering at the SR Engineering College here on Friday, Prof Kumar said that with the people migrating to urban areas, the cities are reeling under immense pressure to provide infrastructural facilities, especially transportation.
"Many cities in the country need public transportation systems like Metro Rails to meet the ever-increasing demand for transportation facilities," Prof Kumar said. The rise in number of vehicles is also a major cause of worry. It needs a lot of manpower and infrastructure to manage the traffic, he said.
