Hyderabad: Former Minister and Congress senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Saturday demanded that the government provide clean governance in all the government systems.

Addressing the media, he said that though the Congress welcomes the announcement of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao that he would strive to provide clean governance, the party demands that it should be applied to other administrative systems also.

Janardhan Reddy said that on the pretext of redesigning of the irrigation projects lot of corruption has taken place. He said that without work estimations project works have been executed.

He said that corruption has taken place in Rural Water Supply wing and judicial inquiry should be held on that. He said that lot of corruption has been taking place in secretariat. There was no transparency in tender process.

He wanted to know why Lokayukta was not appointed in the State and demanded to know by what time would the Lokayukta be in place. He said that the sand mafia was ruling roost.

He said that the employees and the intellectuals have opposed the government in MLC polls and this was reason behind the talk of the Chief Minister on clean governance.

MLC Jeevan Reddy wanted to know as to whether the Chief Minister has forgotten the corruption for the past five years. He said that it was the Chief Minister who has created utter chaos in Revenue department.

He said the Chief Minister who did not come to secretariat was talking about better administration. He alleged that the Chief Minister was running the district administration with help of only Collectors.

Jeevan Reddy alleged that the State government has weakened the Right to Information Act.

He demanded that the Chief Minister tell on how the local bodies are responsible for the development. He asked the Chief Minister to explain from where he got thousands of crores of rupees to spend in early elections to the Assembly.

He said that it was ridiculous on the part of the Chief Minister to blame the officials for corruption while he himself was corrupt.
