Kodangal: Aggrieved over the insensitive and lackadaisical attitude of Doulatabad Tahsildar of Kodangal constituency in Vikarabad district, the farmers along with the support of Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) staged a protest in front of Tahsildar office here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, OUJAC and Youth Congress leader Reddy Srinu alleged that the Doulatabad Tahsildar has been ignoring issues and problems of farmers and poor villagers and harassing them by not issuing land patta passbooks and ration cards for the past several years. "All our requests and representations to the Tahsildar had fallen on deaf ears. Hence, we decided to stage a protest and want to question the Tahsildar why he is delaying the issuance of pattadar passbooks," Srinu said.

The Tahsildar, who took cognizance of the protest, tried to pacify the agitating farmers and the OUJAC leaders. He said more than 90 per cent of land patta passbooks in the mandal were cleared and only 10 per cent is pending. But the OUJAC leaders countered the Tahsildar's claims as false by showing evidences. They said that more than 17,000 farmers were not issued land patta passbooks and nearly 2,000 ration card applications are pending. Reddy Srinu demanded the Tahsildar to clear all the pending issues immediately or else they will be forced to intensify their agitation.

Reacting to this, the Tahsildar asked them to give 45 days to clear all the pending files and promised to make sure each and every issue of the farmers is solved in the mandal in a phased manner.
