Forum for Good Governance has sought Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's intervention in the functioning of TS Pollution Control Board to make it more effective.
Hyderabad: Forum for Good Governance has sought Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's intervention in the functioning of TS Pollution Control Board to make it more effective.
The forum brought few issues of public importance to the notice of the Governor for her personal attention and taking suitable prompt action in the interest of environment and public health.
Forum secretary Dr Padmanabha Reddy laid emphasis on appointing chairperson, member secretary and board members with persons having adequate knowledge and expertise in respect of matters relating to the environment so that board functions properly.
He pointed out that "ease of doing business" had attracted numerous industries, mines and quarries, but at the same time the government should focus on improving the Environment Performance Index.
Otherwise, there is no meaning of development if the quality of life of people goes down due to an increase in pollution, the forum highlighted.
