Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has come up with a comprehensive plan to resolve traffic issues in the city. Among a series of measures being planned is to identify and develop short stretches of new/existing roads to ease traffic congestion.

Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao held a review meeting with the Municipal and Town planning officials and representatives from the real estate industry in Hyderabad, today. During the meeting, the Minister instructed the officials to speed up the process of laying slip roads and link roads to ease out traffic congestion in the city.

Senior officials from GHMC, Town Planning, and representatives from the real estate industry submitted a detailed report to Minister KTR in today's meeting. In an inclusive manner, the officials came up with a strategic plan after taking inputs and recommendations from the citizens.

Earlier, GHMC invited suggestions from the citizens on missing slip roads and link roads which if connected will improve the road network in the city.

As of today, GHMC received close to 300 suggestions on slip roads and link roads. Most of the locations were already identified by the officials who also began the road laying work. Minister instructed officials to speed up the road laying work in busy locations on a top priority basis.

Minister KTR asked the zonal commissioners to designate special officers who would ensure the completion of the road laying work on a war footing.

In the meeting, the Minister mentioned that the government is already implementing the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) to strengthen the road network in Hyderabad.

Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, and representatives from various real estate industry organizations participated in the meeting.
