Hanamkonda (Warangal-U): The city police cracked the case of a teenage girl, who was found dead on her birthday near Vishnu Priya Gardens in Nandi Hills colony late on Wednesday night.

The police arrested the accused within a few hours of the crime. The 19-year-old girl who was studying Intermediate was a resident of Deendayal Nagar colony. The girl left her home on Wednesday morning on the pretext of visiting Bhadrakali temple on the occasion of her birthday.

After she didn't return home even by evening, her father, a vegetable vendor, repeatedly tried to contact her over mobile phone, but in vain as it was switched off. He lodged a complaint with the police after he failed to trace her, according to Commissioner of Police V Ravinder.

Against this backdrop, the police found the body of a girl near Vishnu Priya Gardens at about 10 pm on Wednesday night. Following which, the police informed the parents of the missing girl who identified her as their daughter. It was found that the clothes on girl were different from those she wore in the morning.

The dead body was shifted to MGM hospital for post-mortem and handed over to the family on Thursday morning. The police said that the girl went out with Puli Sai Goud in a car to Chinna Pendyal, a suburban village of Warangal.

Sai Goud who asked her to meet him at Kazipet picked her up at about 2 pm and took her to a secluded place near Chinna Pendyal, where he allegedly molested her. According to reports, the girl died on the spot due to shock and excessive bleeding.

According to police, frightened by the situation Sai Goud sought the help of his friends, who refused to help him. Then Sai Goud purchased new clothes and changed her soiled clothes. Later, he moved around Husnabad, Elkathurthy and other places until the dusk and then abandoned the girl near Vishnu Priya gardens. Sai Goud tried to portray it as natural death, the Commissioner said.

During the investigation, the police found that Sai Goud was in Nemaligonlda village under Station Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon district. They arrested him and seized the car. The police said that Sai Goud, studying degree final year in a private college in Hanamkonda, had befriended the girl some six months ago. Since then the duo was in touch over mobile phone.
