Huzurabad: With an aim to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) in Telangana by 2025, several programmes are being conducted across the state under DISHA-TB, informed deputy DM&HO Dr Sudhakar Reddy on Wednesday.

Under the leadership of village Sarpanch Nerella Mahendar a programme was held with the slogan 'With the participation of society let us drive away TB' here in Chelpur village of Huzurabad mandal in Karimnagar district.

Addressing on the occasion, the deputy DM&HO said that if the cough persists for more than two weeks along with profuse sweating, lack of appetite, weight loss are some of the symptoms of tuberculosis. The persons in whom such symptoms are found must immediately consult the nearby Asha workers who will accompany them to the nearby hospital for medical tests free of cost.

If the disease is diagnosed as a positive, then patients will be given medicine free of cost for a period of six months or until they are cured along with sanctioning of Rs 500 every month for taking balanced diet.

He suggested the Asha workers to create awareness among the people by conducting various programmes to drive away the deadly disease TB from the State by 2025.

MPP E Rani, MPTC N Nagaraju, CHO Sajid, Ashok, Health official Dr Ravinder Rao, and DISHA-TB Coordinator M Srinivas were present.
