GHMC will be spending a huge outlay of `170 cr: Mayor

Hyderabad: The GHMC has decided to come up with 300 km of CC roads in the city outskirts as part of infrastructure development in the coming days. The entire estimated cost will be Rs 170 crore and the project will transform the kutcha roads to pucca roads.

The decision was made at a review meeting chaired by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan in which GHMC Chief Engineer Mohd Ziauddin and several other officials from Engineering wing and representatives of agencies, which are part of Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP), were present.

During the meeting, the Mayor called upon the officials and agencies concerned to repair damaged roads within 24 hours during the monsoon season. He cautioned officials that he does not want to come across complaints of potholes and water stagnation points. While referring to the 709 km long roads which are under CRMP, he said that the entire responsibility of maintenance lies with the concerned agency.

Recalling how several of the works under CRMP were taken up from the beginning of Lockdown, he asked the agencies to level the dug-up roads which are left unattended following completion of development works.
