Municipal Commissioner seeks two-weeks’ time to address the issue

Hyderabad : The High Court bench headed by Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy on Tuesday heard two pleas which alleged that the Jalpally Municipal authorities have failed to drain the rain water that inundated the Osman Nagar of Balapur mandal during the incessant rains in October.

The CJ bench, aggrieved over the affidavit of Jalpally Municipal Commissioner G Praveen Kumar over the measures taken to clear the inundated water, queried why flood water was not pumped out even after two months.

The Jalpally Municipal Commissioner who attended the court on Tuesday informed the bench that necessary measures were taken to pump the water out from the Osman Nagar area. Further, he informed the court that two autos, one tractor and 10 labourers were deployed in Osman Nagar on daily basis for removal of silt, debris, sanitation, bleaching, spraying disinfectant chemicals and fogging. He informed that as of Tuesday, only 4 feet of floodwater was lying in Osman Nagar area and it would be drained in another 15 days.

CJ Chauhan stated that the court doesn't want to hear bureaucratic language instead wants the people's issues to be solved. He directed the municipal authorities to pump out the inundated water from Osman Nagar as early as possible and provide relief to people besides directing the Municipal Commissioner to file factual reports on measures taken to pump out the water. He adjourned the matter to January 7.
