Hyderabad: NAAC blacklists Malla Reddy College of Engineering
- The NAAC’s axe also fell on Dhanekulua Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vijayawada
- NAAC said the Self Study Report (SSR) submitted by the colleges was found fabricated
Hyderabad: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has blacklisted two engineering institutions from the Telugu states for five years for adopting illegal means to pass-through the NAAC process. The decision of NAAC has been informed in two separate letters sent from the NAAC, Bengaluru office to the principals of the Malla Reddy College of Engineering (MRCE), Dhulapally, Secunderabad (Telangana) and Dhanekula Institute of Engineering Technology, Penamaluru, Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh).
The accredited agency said that the Self Study Report (SSR) submitted by the MRCE for reassessment on December 13, 2019 was found submitted with fabricated certificates purported to have been issued by BHEL, Yash Technologies and Airtel.
The certificates appear to be fabricated in the layer, especially with the seal, signature and letterhead aspects. "The digital expertise opinion obtained by us on the same also confirmed the possibility of digital fabrication," it said.
Similarly, the SSR submitted by Dhanekula Institute of Engineering Technology (DIET), Vijayawada on October 20 were also found to be either fabricated or manipulated.
The NAAC said that the documents contained superimposed signature, signatures were inserted, letterhead of the college contained usage of watermark logo of Andhra Pradesh, State Skill Development Council. The reply given to the NAAC's earlier show cause notice is neither convincing nor satisfactory, it said. Against this backdrop, the NAAC said that the issue of the colleges has been placed before the Executive Council of the NAAC. And, the council has decided to cancel the SSR in the present form and "may be blacklisted for a period of five years," he said.
