Rajendranagar: With the deadline for VDS (Voluntary Disclosure Scheme) coming to an end in February, the officials of water board are busy in scrutinising the applications received for regularisation of connections and issuing of approval orders in Rajendranagar circle.

According to officials, after getting a nod from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), they have taken up work of scrutinising the applications, scanning, uploading and generating CAN numbers before issuing the order 'specifying the amount' to be remitted in order to get the connection regularised.

"In some areas, such as Hyderguda and Mailardevpally, orders are being issued regularising the connections which have been identified or disclosed under VDS," said an official.

The HMWS& SB Rajendranagar Division No.16 was sub divided into three sections. Sec-I consists of Hyderguda and Budvel while Sec-II covers Mailardevpally area. The board also serves some of the areas of Sulaiman Nagar and Shastripuram.

All these sections are managed and operated from the office of the General Manager (Engineering – O & M) Budvel, Rajendranagar. All the three sections such as Hyderguda, Budvel and Mailardevpally carry around 34,000 connections.

"So far 200 orders have been issued in Hyderguda and Budvel areas asking the applicants to remit the stipulated amount to get Customer Account Numbers (CAN) in their names for the connections disclosed by them", informed DGM Jameel Altaf Hussain.

Explaining that there are still 600 to 800 connections which need to be regularised for which the scrutinisation of applications, scanning, uploading of documents and generating CAN numbers are in progress, the official said the orders will be issued to remaining connection in the next one week.
