Secunderabad: Secunderabad MLA and Deputy Speaker T Padma Rao Goud on Monday said that widening of roads in Secunderabad constituency, which remained unresolved since decades, would be expedited and efforts were being done to acquire lands for the road widening at various stretches in the constituency. He was speaking at programme organised at Professor Jayashankar Stadium at Lalapet to distribute cheques to landowners who lost their lands in land acquisition for road widening works.

Padma Rao said that proposals for widening of various stretches of roads had been kept pending for the last 25 years and Telangana government which was formed immediately after the state formation in 2014 had taken several measures to provide funds to complete pending projects.

Providing details of road widening works to be taken up, he said that the roads from Lalapet flyover to Moulali flyover (0.5 km), Tukaram gate railway station to Military Track (0.5 km), Chilkalguda junction to Sitaphalmani crossroads (1.45 km) and Sitaphalmandi junction to Jamai Osmania (2.55 km) would be taken up in view of increasing traffic congestion in the routes. Under the first phase, the road from Lalapet to Moulali would be widened to 100 ft from the existing 50-70 ft and 140 landowners agreed to give their land for widening he said. Apart from Rs 7 crore handed over 40 landowners earlier, compensation was being given to 46 landowners in Lalapet and six in Tukaram Gate, he said. He urged people to cooperate with government in road widening work. He instructed officials to take sympathetic attitude towards victims of road widening works and resolve issues amicably.

Local corporator Alakunta Saraswathi, GHMC deputy commissioner Ravi Kumar, assistant city planner Anuradha, officials and local leaders were present on the occasion.
